A Writing Journey

Childhood imagination

I’ve posted before about childhood imagination. I’ve posted about how we should hold on to our child-like creativity, and how as a child I was always imagining and creating worlds in my head. For instance, when we were kids, my brother and I would have to do the dishes together. We loved to pretend that we were working at a restaurant, making milk-shakes or working in the dishroom. (Of course, now that I’ve actually worked in a dishroom, I can’t imagine that actually being fun to pretend).

My point here is that we ought to use our imaginations to keep us happy on those days that we really need a boost. I love my job, so I don’t day-dream or anything there, but when I am at home and (believe it or not) doing the dishes, I like to think about my various stories/ideas and work them out in my mind.

When you have a task you can’t stand, you can make it more enjoyable. Go for it.

Take care, fellow travelers.
