A Writing Journey

Hello all, welcome back to the Poetry Corner. The poem today is actually one that I wrote last spring as part of the history development for the world in which QFS takes place. Let me know what you think!

There is no more

The World is dead

Our friends are doomed –

There is no more.

The skies are black

The Oceans burn

The fires rage

There is no more.

Cities crumble,

Ships go down

Songs all die,

There is no more.

The birds they fall

Out of the sky;

The beasts are gone,

There is no more.

The children sleep

And smoke, it fills,

Our Lullaby,

There is no more.

There is no more,

The World is dead

Our friends are doomed,

There is no more.

Take care, fellow travelers.

  1. Your poem is so heavy with sadness, with despair, but it paints such a perfect platform for a story of hope and of light. It is the darkness that makes the light appear brighter. It’s sad and depressing, but that is indeed what makes it so wonderful 🙂

This is my favourite poem of mine so far:

No book that’s lived a hundred years
Should be without its musty tears
Its shattered back, its yellowed skin,
Without the stains and rips within
It should be loved and worn and old,
A hundred dog ears it should fold
It should be fat with memories,
    With all the joyous reveries
This book that’s lived a hundred years
Should know the feel of readers’ tears
It should not be a thing of grace,
It should show scars upon its face
For any book that’s lived so long
Should in its lifetime be passed on
From page to page, from life to life,
Bringing each new soul a light
This ripe old book should not appear
To be an heirloom treasured dear
It should look rough, it shouldn’t look new
For it’s a book that’s been loved true.

  2. Wow! Depressing, but it does make me more interested in learning more about your world!
