A Writing Journey

I’m especially sensitive,

I suppose,

To everything around me.

I ache with the pain

Of others

And rejoice in their joy.

I am afraid of everything –

Or nearly –

And struggle for self-sufficiency.

When I think of my trials

And my fears

A voice says “Not good enough.”

I don’t know if I’ll ever believe I

Can achieve,

Yet here I am,  alone.

I pay my bills and buy

My groceries.

I live on my own.

Though I still struggle,

I survive –

And survive quite well!

I came here to work,

That’s all,

Not even a place to live!

Now I have a bookshelf

And a bed

To make this place my home.

This was new and scary

But somehow

I knew it would work.

I knew,  I trusted something

Deep inside

And made a leap of faith.

  1. And how well your leap of faith seems to have worked out! 😀
Another poem about something I saw out the window from me:

“There’s a red light blinking there
Consumed by the mist and the fog
It pulses so dim as if it could do better
As if it won’t be shining for long

I think that the poor light is dying
    A marker of desolate life
If it does, can we ever revive it?
Or shall we bid farewell that lone forlorn light?”

    • Thank you! Yes, things are going well, if busy!
I quite like your poem here. I love “Consumed by the mist and fog” (maybe especially since today is a foggy day for me!) and “A marker of desolate life.”
      Thank you for sharing!
      Take care,
      Emily
