The call of a bird stirs my mind –
Black wings against white sky.
A chill creeps in from outside
And life is thrown awry.
Orderly, neat, the outside says –
Chaos reigns for everything.
Snowflakes tumble, crash, and fling
Through tumultuous air winters bring.
Anarchy inside and anarchy out –
No organized life can overcome
The laws of nature unchanging as the sun
Though to deep depths one may plumb
For a hint of stability.
Stability comes from the circle of time –
Nature is silent, can only mime
As her beauty is stolen – the very worst crime.
Yet still bird calls stir my mind
And black wings beat against white sky.
Take care, fellow travelers.
