A Writing Journey

About the Author

My name is Emily, welcome to my page. I am a writer. I love to read, I love to cook, I love to run. I want to share the world that’s in my head with others.

I love reading. Among my favorite authors are Robin Hobb, J.K. Rowling, Marie Brennan,  Fyodor Dostoevsky, and Dawn Cook.

I graduated from college with a major in anthropology and a minor in Russian Studies, both of which inform my writing. The world is a big place, and I try to give the worlds that I create that same feeling. I write fantasy for two reasons: because I love to share the worlds that are inside my head, and because fiction is the best way to understand the world in which we live. I will never stop believing that.

I currently have two completed manuscripts (not including my first, woefully inadequate, completed novel that was more an exercise on “can I do this” than anything else). One of my manuscripts, Quest for Salvation is currently submitted to a publisher. The second (sequel to QFS) is still in it’s first draft, with much editing, revising, and writing to go. I’m working on the first draft of the third in the trilogy.

Other than my “big projects,” I have several ideas that have snips of writing here and there. Who knows what will become of them! I also draw maps of fantasy worlds just for fun. With each of these maps is the potential for another story, and they make me so happy.

Adventure well,

Emily

  1. Thank you for following my blog…. Hope you won’t find too many mistakes or clumsy expressions in what I write!
Towards the end of this week, after I have flown back home and gone over jet lag, I will be reading your posts. We seem to share the same interests, even though I don’t run except for good causes (walked / ran the 3k Women’s Classic in Providence and in the rain last Sunday morning with my daughter. Got drenched! 🌂)

  9. What is your favorite Dostoevsky novel? I’ve always found him a bit challenging!

    • My favorite is “Crime and Punishment.” And yes, he is rather challenging. But as with most classic Russian literature, you have to learn a lot about the time period and the writer to get an idea of what the book is really saying. It also helps to have an experienced Russian Lit professor guiding you through the book. 🙂
      Take care,
      Emily
